Not Every Event is a Winner (And That's Okay)

Not every event is a winner. Some are great, sometimes Mother Nature interferes, and sometimes it's just not the right fit for you and your booth.

Our most recent event falls squarely into that last category.

The turnout was great. The weather was beautiful. The people were wonderful. But for us? It just wasn't our event.

We go into every new show with high hopes and nervous anticipation — this one was no different. We drove miles and miles, arrived with the highest of hopes, and quickly realized we'd been placed on the outskirts of the event. And not just the outskirts — quite literally on the wrong side of the tracks. Our little corner wasn't even a designated selling area in past events.

There were about five of us out here, a scrappy band of outsiders (my new name for our group), doing everything we could to wave folks across the tracks. We got creative — pink totes, a shiny tarp, anything to catch a passing eye. Meanwhile, the persuasive Hubbs worked his magic like an Italian host reciting the evening's specials, calling out to every passerby with a warm invitation to come explore our tent of vintage goodies. And I? I became a full-on keyboard warrior, firing off social media posts in hopes of drawing a crowd.

All in all, it was a dud for us sales-wise. But even so, we're choosing to look at the positives:

  • We met some truly wonderful people
  • We tested some new items — and they were well received!
  • And most importantly... the dogs had an absolute blast 🐾

Sometimes that's enough. On to the next one!
